May: Sacraments Day

May was a big month...it's going to have to be broken into three posts. We'll do the most important one first!

On May 4th our newest baby cousin, Veronica, was baptized at St. Louis where Sarah went as a child. It's a beautiful country parish; the perfect setting for this beautiful girl to come into the family of God. Sarah and her brother Michael were asked to be godparents. Being a godparent isn't a way for parents to say, "Hey, I like you, bro." Parents are asking godparents to take responsibility for raising this soul up to heaven. Not something ask another to take one lightly or that we say yes to without taking a deep breath and accepting that responsibility fully.
She's a ridiculously happy baby and barely made a peep during her baptism.
The ENTIRE family made it so we were sure to get a group picture.
We took a break to collect ourselves because the day wasn't over yet! That evening, Vivian made her First Communion!
Fr. Tim, our parish priest, makes sure the children get to experience this Mass up close.
Fr./Uncle Tom was able to be there to concelebrate which made this extra special for Vivian as she received the Blood of Jesus from her own family member!
After Mass, we made sure to get lots of pictures to remember all the love Vivian felt from her family and friends on the day she received the ultimate gift of Love.

After Mass and ALL those pictures, we celebrated our two precious girls with a meal and cake!
Sarah was recently discussing the Church and Sacraments with a friend. And as parents, even if the kids don't fully understand the depth of sacraments they're receiving, we love to see the Church as forever new and wonderful through their growing faith and anticipate with hope how their lives will unfold in grace. It's such an honor to be able to pass on the gift of faith to these souls!
